Lincoln has ranked among the top five automotive brands in the United States for the first time in the latest J.D. Power U.S. Initial Quality Study thanks to overall quality improvements that are outpacing the industry. Now in its 33rd year, the study measures vehicle quality by analyzing problems reported by owners in the first 90 days of ownership.

The 2017 Lincoln MKZ has earned a Top Safety Pick + rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. Improvements to the MKZ front-end structure have improved the score compared to previous models. 

To earn a "Top Safety Pick +" rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (the highest rating the IIHS gives), a vehicle must have "good ratings in the small overlap front, moderate overlap front, side, roof strength and head restraint tests. It also must have an available front crash prevention system that earns an advanced or superior rating."
